I have practiced law in the Los Angeles area as a sole practitioner since 1979, with an emphasis on workers’ compensation law since about 1982. Because I have enjoyed helping injured workers for many years, I am drawn to helping clarify a complicated system for those who are forced by an on-the-job injury to participate in that system even though I do not maintain an active caseload.
I keep this website now to host the articles that many people have found helpful even if I never represented them. I will try to continue to keep the articles relevant and I still have the same telephone number and email address, while working only from my home. I welcome inquiries from people who have been injured on the job and have questions about the process. I am still a licensed attorney and I am still involved in the community of workers’ compensation lawyers who represent injured workers. If we talk and I think you need an attorney to represent you, I can provide you with a referral. If that happens, I will usually receive a small part of the fee from the attorney, but it will not increase the fee you pay. In California the attorney fee is usually 15% of the recovery. I have the time to talk to people because I don’t have a case load.
I practiced from an office in Marina del Rey, California from 1979 to 2015 and then in Los Angeles until 2020. I have been a member of the California Applicants Attorneys Association Since 1984 and served on the Board of Directors of that organization until 2020. I contributed to the education of workers’ compensation lawyers, arranging seminars with lawyers and doctors for that organization for many years. From 2005-2008 I was also a member of the Workers Compensation Law Advisory Commission of the Board of Legal Specialization of the California State Bar. That organization certifies specialists and we created and graded the exam required to become a certified specialist. I gave up my certification in 2020 because I no longer had an active practice and could not complete the required courtroom activities.
